Paris!
We made it! We are in Paris, the City of Light and the city of lovers. After a lengthy amount of travel time, we checked into our hotel and started walking around the neighborhood. About a block from the hotel we glanced to the right and saw the beautiful Pantheon building and looked to the left and saw the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Am I dreaming...or are we truly in Paris!?
Because we are not frequent travelers, the inevitable occurs. We crash! After a nice nap the hotel staff suggests a hole in the wall restaurant near Jardin de Luxembourg for dinner. We took the long route to get there and viewed the Notre Dam Cathedral in all its glory as the sun was setting. We also walked along the Seine, which seems to be a Parisian past time. We stopped to photograph the Pont de L'Archeveche, which is a bridge lined with padlocks of lovers proclaiming their eternal love by adding their special lock to the collection. We even wished our best to a bride and groom on the bridge posing for their photographs of eternal love. Perhaps we need to add a lock to the collection??
I love the love of love in Paris! People aren't the least squeamish about PDA's. It seems public displays of affection are well accepted and quite the norm. My heart swells with the love around me.
Then on to the restaurant...my was the food delicious!!! I had sea bream, and although I am not familiar with this fish, it was a delightfully light white fish in a light yet very flavorful sauce...perfect for my palette. All of both our courses were superb!
And now we are ending a perfect day with a glass of chilled champagne in our hotel's patio. Yes, Virginia, dreams really do come true!!
A funny thing happened on the way to a blog. I thought I had investigated how to do this before I left the States. But when I got here and tried to post my first entry all the directions were in French. I'm lost in BlogLand!! I tried to post a photo but had no idea what the directions were. Fortunately my Super Husband figured how to get it changed to English. So, after some delay, here is my first post.
